We are excited to announce the two guest curators for this year’s T-Port Lighthouse Selections are Laurence Boyce and Maike Mia Höhne. These industry veterans will select a group of their favourite short films from T-Port’s extensive catalogue to make up our premium collection for 2023.
Laurence Boyce
Laurence Boyce was born in Leeds, UK and began his career in 1999 as a programmer and moderator for the Leeds International Film Festival.
He relocated to Tallinn, Estonia in 2010 and works for the Black Nights Film Festival. He has worked as both a programmer for the festival’s main competitions as well being the Head of Programme (Live Action) for PÖFF Shorts, the short film section of the festival.
He is also an award winning film journalist who writes for numerous publications amongst them Screen International, Sight and Sound, Yellow Bread Shorts, Little White Lies and Cineuropa.
He is a member of FIPRESCI, the London Critics Circle, the European Film Academy and BAFTA.
He is currently the chairman of the board of the Short Film Conference, a network of short film organisations from across the globe.
Maike Mia Höhne
Maike Mia Höhne (b. 1971 in Hanover) studied visual communication at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg, the Escuela de Bellas Artes in Havana as well as the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. After stays in Buenos Aires, Argentina, she completed her post-graduate studies at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg with a focus on film.
She works as a curator and juror for several institutions and festivals worldwide. From 2007 to 2019 she was head of Berlinale Shorts of the Berlin International Film Festival. Since 2019, she has been the artistic director of the Hamburg Short Film Festival.
Höhne is a professor for film at the University of Applied Sciences Europe in Hamburg. As an advisor she has been on the board of national and international funds and festivals such as Sharjah Art Foundation. Together with her partner they run the production company Pinkmovies. For the TV channel ARTE they produce the weekly magazine Court Circuit- a magazine dedicated to short films. They also produce doc and hybrid formats for cinema and stage. She is mother of two inspiring kids and lives in Hamburg, Germany.

The T-Port Lighthouse Selections is considered our premium collection and given increased exposure to our network of film professionals.
