We are excited to announce the two guest curators for this year’s T-Port Lighthouse Selections are Kasia Kaarwan and Jukka-Pekka Laakso. Find out more about them below. 

If you’re a filmmaker, you have until November 30  to submit your short to T-Port in order to be eligible for selection. 

If you’ve independently uploaded your film to T-Port  before the closing date, or your film is on T-Port via one of our partners, then it will be considered for this edition of the Lighthouse Selections.

Kasia Kaarwan

Kasia Karwan began her career in the film industry by collaborating with international sales companies in France (Premium Films, Coproduction Office) and Canada (CBC & Radio-Canada).

With a passion for compelling stories and discovering new talent, Kasia is a member of the Short Films Committee at the Cannes Film Festival and is involved in talent development for Wild Atlantic Pictures in Ireland.

Additionally, as a film acquisition specialist at Velvet Spoon, she enriches the Polish genre film scene. At her Paris-based company Moonshot, she offers consulting services for international co-productions. 

Jukka-Pekka Laakso

Jukka-Pekka Laakso is the festival director of Tampere Film Festival since 2002.

As a festival director he shares the responsibility to strategic planning and programming with a co-director. 

He has been a member of more than 60 juries in film festivals including Edinburg ff, Locarno ff, Festival du Nouveau Cinema in Montreal, Canada, Hanoi ff and Morelia ff in Mexico.

Jukka-Pekka Laakso acts also as the executive director for Pirkanmaa Film Centre, a local film centre in Tampere. The film centre is a non-profit organisation that runs an art-house cinema, distributes films in Finland and works extensively with media education.

For 10 years, he was a member of the Council of Cinema of Finland (part of the Arts council), and for 6 of those years he acted as chair. He is also member of the European Film Academy.

All films uploaded to T-Port  before our deadline of November 30, 2024 will be automatically considered for the 2024/2025 edition of our T-Port Lighthouse Selections – a curated selection of films picked by leading industry programmers. The T-Port Lighthouse Selections is considered our premium collection and given increased exposure to our network of film professionals.

T-Port films are only accessible to professionals, so your premiere status will not be affected.
