Born and raised in Tel Aviv, Israel, to russian immigrants that came to israel as theatre actors. When finished high school joined the army, and left after 8 months for ideological reasons and for studying film at Tel Aviv University. Was sent to a summer school of VGIK, film school in moscow, to shoot a documentary.
