The film explores how illness and the threat of death within a family affect those around the patient—the terrifying, absurd, tender, and liberating moments. It examines the difficulty of caring for someone in critical condition and the accompanying guilt, as well as the fine line between concern and the struggle to let go. Vera moves between maintaining a composed, active persona and experiencing deep anxiety and guilt. In the end, Arnon’s death allows closeness and release from these feelings.
