William Sehested Høeg is a Danish director who graduated from the Danish Film School in 2023. Prior to his time at the school, he had directed several award-winning short films, where he honed his skills in different genres such as suspense drama (TYRAN), comedy (BALLON), and a period film (ERIKS KRIG). William began his career in the film industry in 2012 as a runner, and has ever since worked his way up through the danish film industry. Finishing his first short film was followed by a five-year period as a freelancer, where he was employed at Zentropa and VICE, among others. In addition, he has worked as a production manager, production coordinator, recording manager and producer. All done to buy himself the freedom to do what really mattered, namely writing and directing short films. Before his admission to the Film School, he worked as assistant director on HERRENS VEJE produced by DR - as well as assistant director on THE RAIN for Netflix produced by Miso Film. During film school he has explored the nuances of comedy through his film productions, exploring how it can be driven by suspense and carry dramatic weight. Through his characters, he exposes himself and creates contemporary portraits of the toxic group dynamics that we can all relate to. In addition to directing, William often writes for his films and has collaborated with Oscar Dyekjær Giese on the screenplay for THE COMPLAINT.
