I’m drawn to what lives beneath the surface: collective fear, shame, silence, and the moments when the private becomes inescapably public. My work is driven by the hidden forces behind human behavior, the instincts we inherit and the emotions we suppress. I'm fascinated by the friction between the individual and the group, how we perform for each other, how we protect each other, and how we fail each other. Scream Test explores this through the body and the archaic act of screaming; JOY through the violence of silence and the courage it takes to break it. At the core of everything is a question I keep returning to: what do we do when something uncomfortable is right in front of us? Do we look away, or do we act? My films don't answer that question. They hold it up and ask the audience to sit with it.
