MÓNICA LIMA (b. Lisbon) studied Visual Arts in Lisbon, and Writing and Directing in Prague (FAMU) and Berlin (DFFB). Her short films “The silence between two songs”, “Viktoria” and “Summer Saturn” have been shown in various international film festivals (Angers Premiers Plans, Leuven, Dresden, Vila do Conde, i.a.) and won various awards and mentions. Her graduation film “Natureza Humana” was part of the official selection of the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2023, where it received the Ammodo Tiger Short Award. During her training years she studied writing and directing with Valeska Grisebach, Fred Kelemen, Franz Rodenkirchen, i.a. Professionally has been working as a scriptwriter and script advisor, as well as an assistant director and lecturer of directing and screenwriting classes. She is currently developing her first feature-length original screenplay, which has received financial support for Writing and Development from ICA and took part in the Oxbelly Writing and Directing Lab (Sundance/Faliro House) and Writing Cinema Today of Foundation Calouste Gulbenkian.
