My main interests as a filmmaker are political and social conflicts, and people who are often overlooked within society. This is both out of empathy for those individuals and out of the desire to give them the attention they deserve, but it is also a special interest of mine to explore people who are marginalized and outsiders of mainstream society. I have always empathized with the human struggle of people at the bottom of society, and found their daily battle for freedom and equality fascinating. In this film, Butcher's Stain, I wanted to explore the deeply rooted racism that surfaces in everyday spaces, especially in times of national crisis. The film centers on Arab Israelis and the complex, often invisible burden they carry in the aftermath of war, a burden of suspicion and silence. By focusing on one man’s quiet struggle within his workplace, the film aims to reflect the larger societal fractures and question what it truly means to belong in a country marked by conflict.

My name is Meyer Levinson-Blount. I am a Tel Aviv based filmmaker, originally from the US. I moved to Israel when I was 12. Currently I am studying filmmaking in a BFA program at Tel Aviv University. I am a director and screenwriter with a strong background in producing, assistant directing, casting, and editing. My work often explores themes of identity, marginalization, and social and political tension, aiming to tell stories that are both emotionally grounded and socially relevant. I strive to bring a thoughtful approach to every film project, with a focus on character driven storytelling. I aim to create characters who are socially invisible to most of the society we live in, but at the same time are larger than life.
