Lia Dekel is a filmmaker and activist whose work has been screened at festivals around the world. Her film “Everybody Knows” received The "Best Student Film Award" at the Tokyo International Cinema Awards (2024). Her experimental documentary “My Leftovers” (2022) was screened at the Pesaro Film Festival and many other festivals. Alongside her filmmaking, she has worked with NGOs supporting migrant care-givers and Palestinians. She is the founder of the feminist film club "Chick Flick" at Radical House TLV, and "The Intangible Film Project": A collective of politically engaged filmmakers dedicated to creating impactful films that inspire change and call for an end to the war in Gaza. "Faraway Place" was created as part of this movement.
