Jan Koslowski, who grew up in Berlin, works as an author, director and actor. He studied directing at the Akademie für Darstellende Kunst Baden-Württemberg, as well as film dramaturgy at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg and attended the masterclass for directing at the Zurich University of the Arts. His plays have been performed at numerous theatres in Germany, as well as internationally (e.g. Volksbühne Berlin, Schauspielhaus Graz, Connecting Space Hong Kong). As an active part of different artistic collectives, he organizes performances that explore theatre outside of traditional spaces, unifying art and community action (e.g. travelling theatre project STAGE, Plötzensee Festival). His prose debut, RABAUKEN, was published in 2020 by Korbinian Verlag, which has twice been awarded the German Publishing Prize. His fable NÖ was published in 2021. He regularly contributes texts to magazine publications. His acting credits include the post-apocalyptic drama ‘ENDE NEU’ by Leonel Dietsche and the Berlinale award-winning film ‘Millennials’ by Jana Bürgelin. In addition to his work for the stage, he has directed various fictional and documentary short and medium-length films. His first feature-length film, BRIGITTE REIMANN BESTEIGT DEN MONT VENTOUX! was released in 2021. Common themes in Jan Koslowski's work are structural change, gentrification and community-building.
