Christofer Nilsson is a writer-director based in Malmö, Sweden, drawn to portraying problematic characters through themes of loneliness, class and broken dreams in rural settings. Coming from a decade long career in music video- and commercial directing, he made the short The Ballad (2023) (SE-FR) in 2023, which was broadcast by ARTE France and SVT after selections at Les Arcs, Uppsala ISFF, London SFF, Tirana IFF, Edmonton IFF, among others. The Ballad was also shortlisted for a Swedish Academy Award in 2024. Christofer’s latest short, Dancing Pigeons (2025) (SE-FR), was selected for European Short Pitch 23|24, and made with support from CNC and the Swedish Film Institute. It has recently started its festival circuit with upcoming premieres at Leeds IFF and Uppsala ISFF. This first feature of his, APOTEOS, has been workshopped through TFL Next Feature program, Pustnik and Script Savages, with development support from the national and regional first feature schemes. Since 2021, Christofer is represented by Bleck Out in Stockholm.
