In my work, I constantly reflect on Panamá's geographical position. A geographical position that has engendered consequences in nature, involving socio-political issues, creating dialogues between humans and nature. A geographical wound in the jungle and water, which is becoming an economic transit route. A wound that began on earth and passed to humans, in political situations and in our history with the United States. Paradoxically, within this wound, within this enclosed space of vulnerability, opportunities for new mixes and new forms of life have arisen. The lack of definition of my place of origin in words has influenced my artistic forms. How can you talk about a place in words when its stories and forms are made up of textures and sensations? By asking myself this question, I've broadened my forms of creation in my homeland. By feeling this place viscerally within me, sometimes images and representations aren't enough. That's why in my artistic practice, my body and its instinctive, repetitive, trance-like movements have demanded to be more and more present. With this in mind, I've come to realize that in my forms of work, I don't distinguish whether it's image or sound, whether it's the body or the space that tells the story, whether it's documentary or fiction. This mixture of hybrid aesthetics, like Panama, in which I seek out these states of vulnerability and mysticism in the face of the mixture of formats such as film, performance, sound, the body, with the intention of telling the story from sensations. My starting point is this place, which brings with it the visceral, the trance-like states associated with the land.
