"Conceptual documentary is a term I often use when it comes to explaining my narrative style. I want to be able to challenge, but also create visual images that take the real and close in the documentary and elevate it to something more artistic. There is something exciting about living in the divide between the poetic and the concrete." - Christian Søgaard

I'm Christian Søgaard, a filmmaker who's been lucky enough to work in different parts of the industry. I've done writing, directing, cinematography, editing, and grading throughout my career. But I know that I'm just one of many talented artists in my generation. When I think about what inspires me, it's the little things: music that touches my soul, colors that bring my work to life, and abstract images that spark my imagination. These things fuel my passion for storytelling and creating narratives. I'm especially interested in characters who challenge society's expectations and stereotypes. In my films, I always strive to portray personalities that are thought-provoking, lovable, and break stereotypes. It's my way of exploring the complexity of the human experience and celebrating the diversity in our world. Before focusing on filmmaking, I worked as a creative and photographer in the advertising industry. This experience taught me how to approach ideas and storytelling with consideration for the intended audience. I understand the importance of connecting with viewers and leaving them with a message that stays with them long after the movie ends. Right now, I'm based in Oslo, Norway.
