Rani Avidan is a filmmaker from Tel Aviv, Israel. Rani works part-time as a cinematographer and an editor on web commercials and short films. He also teaches directing and cinematography at Ironi Alef High School for the Arts. Rani graduated from the Steve Tisch School of Film and Television at Tel Aviv University with honors in 2017. While military service is obligatory in Israel, Rani chose to volunteer in civil service instead; He was active at ASSAF organization which helps refugees and asylum seekers, where he created an after-school art program for refugees’ kids. Rani is currently writing a feature film, a television series and is in pre-production for a new short film. Rani’s dream is to direct genre bending comedies which appeal to a wide audience while saying something about the complicated place which is Israel.
