FAQ

T-Port Lighthouse for Filmmakers

Will my film be automatically uploaded to T-Port?

Yes. If your film fills all of our requirements, the film will be immediately uploaded to T-Port upon registration.

Where will my film be presented?

Your film will be showcased in our online market. Once you have signed up and uploaded your film, you will receive your own personal film page and profile that you are able to edit and also share outside of T-Port (see Can I share my film with individuals who are not T-Port members?).

Will my premiere/screening status be affected if I upload my film to T-Port?

No. Having your film on T-Port is not considered as a public screening as we restrict viewing access to industry professionals only and so, this should not compromise your chances in taking part in other festivals with the film. This is similar to having a private link, but simultaneously allows professionals who haven’t been exposed to the film yet to access it when they wouldn’t otherwise.

Is there a fee? And why?

Yes. Each film registration costs €15. T-Port is a non-profit organisation which means that the fees contribute towards the upkeep of our service.

How do you make sure my film gets seen?

Our online community includes more than 2500 film industry professionals who receive regular updates through our newsletters and social media platforms, informing them of new films being uploaded, recommendations, etc.

We use innovative technological infrastructure – advanced search tools, customized recommendations, and more – to help professionals find exactly what they are looking for. If your film gets chosen for T-Port Selection, you will receive even more exposure and further opportunities for your film (see What is T-Port Lighthouse Selection?).

Apart from uploading my film - is there anything else I need to do?

Your film details need to be as informative, accurate and as up to date as possible; in particular, this includes details about festivals, awards, and other programs your film is currently or has taken part in. An updated film page improves the appearance of your film and can also be used as a helpful tool outside of T-Port!

Is T-Port only an online market?

No, our work continues offline too. As a pioneer in the field of digital promotion for film professionals prior to COVID-19, we have attended major in-person film industry events across Europe and globally to accompany our online activity. With the global crisis and limitations for “on location” events in 2020-21, we were ready to adopt online and hybrid models from the get-go. T-Port holds a variety of digital and physical events, panels and one to one meetings in order to maximize opportunities for short & student films.

Do you have any partnerships that can help in promoting my film?

We have a network of over 25 partnerships with a wide array of industry players including film festivals and markets (e.g. Clermont-Ferrand, TSFM), talent initiatives (e.g. Les Arcs Talent Village), online VoD platforms, sales agents, buyers, national institutions, and leading film schools. Filmmakers featured on T-Port are provided with exclusive opportunities to promote and present their works through T-Port’s collaborations.

What is T-Port Lighthouse Selection?

T-Port Lighthouse Selection are featured films on the website that are curated by leading professionals and receive further promotion amongst our professional audience. This is based on a pre-selection process. Our team views and evaluates every film that is uploaded to T-Port.

The next round of T-Port Lighthouse Selection is expected to be announced in November 2021.

Who will be able to view my film?

Only verified industry professionals and our selection team. Additionally, you can share the film with anyone outside of the platform that you wish to by using our ‘share’ feature (see ‘Can I share my film with individuals who are not T-Port members?’).

Who do you consider to be an ‘industry professional’?

In general, individuals and company representatives who are involved professionally with the global film industry for the purpose of promotion and distribution of films. This primarily includes festival programmers and executives, sales agents, VoD platforms, press, buyers, distributors, producers, and film school executives.

How do you verify the identity of professional users?

All user registrations go through a process of examination and accreditation to verify their professional background. Users who do not fulfill our requirements are not granted access.

Once I register to T-Port, will I be able to watch the films of other filmmakers on the platform?

No. T-Port aims to facilitate connections between you and industry professionals only. Therefore we restrict access to films to industry professionals only (see ‘Who do we consider to be an ‘industry professional’?).

How do you make sure films on the platform are secure?

Every film that is uploaded to our platform is protected using DRM and advanced SSL encryption protocol technologies. Films are  stored in a secure server that can only be accessed by registered T-Port users, exclusively on T-Port’s online platform. Additionally, films are not downloadable and can only be accessed via streaming.

Does uploading my film give T-Port the right to distribute my film?

Absolutely not. T-Port is only allowed to stream the films online on T-Port and use part of the film for promotional purposes. We will not publicly or commercially screen a film without consent of the owners of the films. For more details see our Regulations.

How do I know if someone is interested in my film?

When an industry professional is interested in your film, they may choose to contact you. Any contact made will be received as a message sent directly to the email address that you signed up with. We do not intervene in that process, it is the filmmaker’s responsibility and choice to handle it as s/he sees fit. If an industry professional approaches you with a proposal that is not currently relevant to you, we do still encourage you to respond in order to maintain contact for any potential future propositions.

Is there a time limit on my film’s inclusion on T-Port?

Yes. T-Port aims to showcase the latest films being made and so is updated regularly. Your film will remain on T-Port for one year.  If your film is selected as part of T-Port Lighthouse Selection it will be featured there for one year (see What is T-Port Lighthouse Selection?).

Can I share my film with individuals who are not T-Port members?

Yes you can! We even encourage it. You can share your film, along with your personal profile (including your filmography, pictures, items from the press and more) to individuals who aren’t T-Port members. We recommend that you do so as it is an effective way to promote your work within the industry. For more information see our guidelines for filmmakers

How many films can I register?

Every filmmaker can register up to ten films per call. However, please note that the fee is per each film registration.

I’m already a T-Port user, can I register my film to T-Port Lighthouse?

Yes. To upload your film to T-Port Lighthouse, log in and then go to ‘My Films’.

Which films are accepted?

I am a film student - can I submit my film?

As we also work with film schools worldwide, we suggest checking if your school is a T-Port partner. If it is, we recommend that you contact your film school first regarding your film upload.

Once uploaded, can I remove my film from T-Port again?
