Bio: Tanno Mee (1983) graduated from the Baltic Film and Media School (BFM) BA program of film and video directing in 2008 with a short film HOUSE OF MEMORIES (35’). In 2010 Tanno premiered a short documentary Being Normal (28’), commissioned by the Estonian Public Broadcasting, and in 2014 another documentary ALLAN LEIDA, LEIDA ALLAN- co-directed with Liis Nimik. Tanno’s short film, a sensitive and nuanced drama HELEN'S BIRTHDAY (2017) screened at 13 film festivals (incl. Nordic Film Days Lübeck, Scanorama, Helsinki IFF, PÖFF Shorts), won the Baltic Competition at 2Annas Riga IFF, was theatrically released in Estonia and nominated for the Estonian Film and TV Award in Best Short Film category. Tanno’s latest short film, romantic comedy NEW BEGINNINGS (2019) premiered at Nordic Film Days Lübeck, won Jury’s Award for the Best Short Film at the Kufstein Short Film Festival 2020 and screened at 7 other short film festivals (incl. 2Annas Riga IFF, PÖFF Shorts). NEW BEGINNINGS was released in Estonia in April 2020 in the short film compilation “FRESH BLOOD: With Best Intentions” - this was the first ever Estonian premiere to take place online on all main VOD and streaming platforms simultaneously; the compilation was afterwards released also theatrically. NEW BEGINNINGS was nominated for the Estonian Film and TV Award in the Best Short Film category. Both Helen’s Birthday and New Beginnings are represented by sales agency Premium Films. In March 2013 Tanno Mee participated in the EAVE European Producers Workshop I together with his producer Marianne Ostrat (Alexandra Film). In 2016 Tanno participated in Adrienne Weiss’ workshop Tools For Directing Actors Foundation Workshop in London. In June 2018 Tanno participated in a 4-day workshop Working With Actors by Jeremy Kagan at the Baltic Film and Media School. From October 2020 till March 2021 Tanno participated in the Drakadeemia scriptwriting workshop in Tallinn and in May-June 2021 at Torino Film Lab - NEXT Comedy Lab developing the screenplay of his first feature film The Life Coach.
