Bio: Using images taken along the journey and diary entries, the film "Bow and Arrow" takes the audience across the Atlantic, weaving together Cantonese language and the Wolof from Senegal into a mysterious narrative thread that transcends space and time and connects different cultures. These two languages, which just like their hometowns experienced a turbulent history between colonialism and freedom, shape the film. In the diary, the filmmaker records her mood swings and dialogues in English and Cantonese. She questions her identity and cultural roots and realises that the similarities between Hong Kong and Dakar go far beyond the obvious. She begins to realise that self-discovery is related to memories and history, and the answer may be hidden in a constructed collective memory - a goal or question which aspires to.
