My work explores intimacy, touch, and intersubjective presence in technologically mediated environments, as well as the psychological and affective dimensions of control, agency, and vulnerability. I am interested in how relationships, closeness, and bodily experience are reshaped by interfaces, immersive systems, and protocols of seeing and sensing. Through film, VR, and interactive installations, I investigate the tension between embodiment and mediation, and the emotional, perceptual, and tactile traces that emerge from these encounters. At its core, my practice reflects on human fragility, the longing for contact, and the subtle mechanisms through which we negotiate trust, power, and exposure in both physical and digital spaces.

Dr. Monika Masłoń (born 1982) is a visual artist and art educator working at the intersection of experimental film, digital media, and sensory experience. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź and earned her Ph.D. from the Łódź Film School, where she completed a doctoral project titled Do zobaczenia (See you) under the supervision of Prof. Józef Robakowski. She has worked as a lecturer at the University of Leipzig and at the Maria Grzegorzewska University in Warsaw, teaching courses in the field of art education and visual culture. Her artistic practice is grounded in the translation of emotional states and embodied experiences into audiovisual and immersive forms. She constructs affective environments that evoke subtle gestures, memories, and intersubjective presence, often reflecting on distance, longing, and the fragility of connection. She works across a range of media, including video, sound, photography, virtual reality, and physical installation. Her projects often blend analog and digital techniques, combining intimate voice recordings, tactile objects, and spatial compositions. She is particularly drawn to formats that allow for slowness, sensory engagement, and a sense of shared presence, whether through single-channel video, immersive environments, or participatory experiences. Her projects have been shown in numerous exhibitions and screenings. She is the author of the VR experience CONTROL NEGATIVE, which premiered at DOK Leipzig in 2022. She is currently working on FEELING TOUCHED – an experimental artistic documentary exploring the human longing for touch in a world increasingly mediated by technology – and OCEAN, a multi-user VR experience inspired by Stanisław Lem’s Solaris. https://monikamaslon.art/
