Max Ovaska (b. 1988) is a director, screenwriter and actor from Helsinki, Finland. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in film directing from Aalto University in 2020. His graduation short film Carrier (2020) was shortlisted for BAFTA Student Awards in 2021 and selected as a finalist in the 2021 Student Academy Awards, as the first Finnish film in their 48-year history. Ovaska has worked as an actor since 2002, performing in feature films, short films, TV series and animations. Before Carrier Ovaska has directed five short films, and as his latest work he directed three episodes of the prime time TV series Hotel Swan Helsinki in 2021.
