Lenia Friedrich is a versatile artist whose work is characterized by the fusion of everyday objects with spiritual and meditative themes. A central concern of her art is integrating mindfulness and awareness into daily life. This is particularly evident in her project Empty Your Mind, in which she designs dish towels with meditative messages to encourage mindfulness in cooking and eating. In her animated documentary "Muttermale - Ich habe immer nur für andere gelebt," Lenia Friedrich examines the life of her grandmother, highlighting the unrecognized labor of women and the enduring societal expectations that define their roles. In her animation Bakersville, Friedrich explores themes of transience and the cycle of life by depicting the activities of insects on a fox carcass. Through the portrayal of decomposition and the new life that emerges from it, she emphasizes the beauty of impermanence. In summary, Lenia Friedrich’s artistic vision aims to create a deeper awareness of the world around us by connecting art with daily life, inspiring viewers to embrace a mindful way of living.
