Jetske Lieber (Nijmegen, 1999) makes films with great personal urgency and a dormant social dialogue in between. In her work she looks for discomfort, sincere attempts at connection, the beauty of failure and love. She hopes her films will make the world look just a little better, and perhaps a little sweeter. Her third-year fiction film The Laundry (2023) was selected for Go Short International Short Film Festival. In her first year, she made the short documentary Had Je Me Maar (2021) where, through street interviews, she tries to answer the question: how do you heal a broken heart? She graduated with the film January (2024), which won the KNF Award at the Netherlands Film Festival and got selected for the International Competition of the Poitiers Film Festival.
