Anna Maria Joakimsdottír Hutri, hailing from Iceland, Sweden, and Denmark, is a multifaceted screenwriter and director. While primarily active in Finland, her portfolio boasts diverse projects. Her feature debut, "Georg & Lydia," featuring Sven Wolter, Maria Salomaa, and Philip Zandén, was produced by Helsinki -filmi oy for YLE drama. Additionally, she helmed the children's TV series "Äppeltjuvarna," comprising two episodes of 30 minutes each for YLE. Prior to her directorial ventures, Anna Maria made waves with several acclaimed short films, earning recognition at prestigious film festivals worldwide. Her artistic journey commenced in still photography at Aalto University before transitioning to theatre at Uni arts. Armed with master's degrees in film and multimedia, as well as theatre and dramaturgy, her talent garnered numerous accolades. Notably, her short film "Through the Supermarket in Five Easy Pieces" clinched the Best Short Award at TheWIFTS Foundation International Visionary Awards in 2017, among other honors.In 2019, Anna Maria co-directed the feature film "A Music Story." Her theatrical endeavors include "Frankenstein - An Existentialistic Horror- Comedy," which she both wrote and directed, as well as ”A Dream play" by A. Strindberg. "Who stands up for Alvar" marks Anna Maria Joakimsdottír Hutri's first own feature film, promising another captivating addition to her impressive body of work.
