I'm interested in what happens to intimacy and trust when the world around people turns unstable and unsafe, and how homes, families, and friendships hold up under that pressure. My characters often live with something hidden: a secret, a lie, a performed identity, and I'm drawn to the moment that becomes unsustainable, and they have to face the truth. I keep returning to questions of belonging in a still-patriarchal society, and to the choice between leaving and staying to fight for what matters to them. Whatever the setting, I want my characters to act rather than simply endure, and I'm interested in the fragile hope that survives even after trust has been broken.

Ana Sarukhanova is a Georgian film director based between Tbilisi and London. She holds an MA in Film Directing from the London Film School, and her work has screened at major international festivals including Locarno, Sarajevo, and DocLisboa. Ana has taken part in industry programmes such as Berlinale Talents, Connecting Cottbus, the Mediterranean Film Institute Feature Lab, and TorinoSeriesLab. Alongside her fiction work, Ana has directed documentary films in collaboration with ZDF and Chai Khana, a Georgian media outlet with over a decade of documentary storytelling across the South Caucasus. Her filmography also includes a 20-episode TV series.
