Director's statement: The film portrays the relationship between my father and his mother, who came from a poor family in a Syrian refugee neighborhood. For my father to succeed outside of the neighborhood, he had to distance himself from his parents' home and the constraints of his parents' values. Family, for me, is the thing from which we grow as human beings and something we must confront as adults. In Ea'eb, the poison-green-colored suit symbolizes this toxic success. The fancy suit the mother buys for her son represents a necessary status symbol for her. However, for the son, this suit symbolizes everything embarrassing about his mother, and beyond that, it is a reminder of the old, shabby house he left behind. For her, what is a symbol of success, is to him, a straitjacket.

I have always been interested in characters, starting as a child who couldn’t stop watching reruns of cartoons at Cartoon Network. Being involved in animation for the past ten years in various capacities such as teacher, producer and lead animator, I am working as a freelancer, with "Ea'eb" being my first post-graduation independent film. I plan to keep on working in the industry and keep on creating.
