I think I choose what to work on quite intuitively. Sometimes I have an idea but it passes, and sometimes it doesn’t. If there’s any common themes, they aren’t consciously chosen — they are my own ongoing preoccupations. Perhaps you could say that generally I’m making films about society being a weird thing to have to bend and fold yourself in to. As for mood and aesthetics; I think each film tells you how to make it. NO BALL GAMES works best on 8mm, Living Normally and Domestication are contemporary films shot on digital. I do my best to lean into what the subject tells me.

I am an artist and filmmaker born in 1986 in Scotland to English parents, raised in Belgium and Sheffield, now living and working in Thessaloniki, Greece. During my formative years I went to an international school in Belgium close to Brussels, where I was exposed to a strange mix of American, European and British culture; when I first moved to England at the age of eight it was an unexpected culture shock—one that has deeply influenced my work and my insider/outsider perspective ever since. I am currently working on my first feature film whilst continuing to work as an illustrator, art director and also making experimental short films and music videos.
