Naeem Laith Wahid Callisto Salifu (he/him) is a Black transmasculine film director based in Berlin. His work combines his interest in film, design and photography to create compelling narratives that explore identity, desire, societal structures and the human psyche. With a focus on drama, mystery and coming-of-age stories, Naeem challenges expectations and in particular focuses on the often overlooked experiences of transmasculine people in the media. His most recent films include GET BETTER, an attempt to make depression and anxiety tangible, and DISCLOSURE, which deals with the uncomfortable experience of having to reveal one's trans identity in romantic encounters. The film is currently in post-production. Over the past three years, Naeem has worked as a production intern at Bonaparte Films on projects for brands such as Gore-Tex and Mercedes-Benz. Most recently, he was an assistant producer at Studio Zentral, where he worked on the projects FEELINGS (funk), WIR (ZDF) and the upcoming series PLÖTZLICH KANZLERIN (Netflix).
