Luzie Kurth (born 1997 in Cologne) is a director and media artist. In her audiovisual work, she seeks to find poetry in the everyday and to reveal the beauty and hidden stories of the overlooked. She studied Theatre and Political Science at the Free University of Berlin, with periods of study in London and Mexico City, before completing a Master's degree in Applied Human Rights at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. Drawing on her early experience in acting and radio drama, since 2016 she has worked as an assistant director for public broadcasters, collaborating with renowned artists such as Wolf Wondratschek, Mouse on Mars, and Jörg Buttgereit. These experiences have shaped her sound-driven approach to storytelling, which she now applies to her own productions. Her debut short film, 'Pêche', was screened at the Tampere Film Festival. Her debut documentary, 'BIG FISH – Rumba Rwandaise', premiered in September 2024 at the Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles in Paris, and was nominated for the DGB Film Prize at the Emden-Norderney International Film Festival. She currently lives in Brussels.
