My work explores the fragile boundary between reality and the worlds we create to escape, understand, or reinvent it. I am drawn to characters who feel caught between places, identities and versions of themselves, and who encounter the extraordinary within seemingly ordinary environments. Growing up in Italy and building my life across different countries has shaped my fascination with belonging, distance and the idea of home. At the same time, I am interested in how technology increasingly mediates our experience of reality—how digital spaces can preserve memories, create alternate identities and become places in which we emotionally live. As a filmmaker, I combine real locations and recognizable human experiences with elements of science fiction, fantasy and digital culture. Rather than treating these worlds as separate from reality, I use them to reveal something about it. Through my films, I fuse truth with imagined worlds, inviting audiences to question reality in a constantly changing society.

Liliana Colombo is an Italian-born British filmmaker based in Milan and London. After working as an editor and visual effects artist in the United States, she started her film practice that has led many of her work to be presented and awarded at numerous international festivals such as the Locarno Film Festival, RIDM Montreal, DocumentaMadrid, Tampere Film Festival, Flatpack, Mecal Barcelona, Documentarist Istanbul and more.
