Hanis Bagashov is born in 1999 in North Macedonia. He graduated from the Film & TV Directing department of the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts "Krastyo Sarafov" in Sofia, Bulgaria. His short film "Mishko", written, directed, and co-produced by himself premiered at Sarajevo Film Festival in 2018 and went on to win 10 international awards, and 70 international festival selections. Since 2020 it has been distributed by Radiator IP Sales. Bagashov is an alumnus of Berlinale Talents (2020 - Directors Summit & 2022 - Script Station); Sarajevo Talents (2018), IDFAcademy 2022, European Short Pitch (2020), Go Short Campus Nijmegen (2019), BaseCamp - Locarno Film Festival (2019), LIM - Less is More (Le Groupe Ouest), First Films First (Goethe Institue). Bagashov is a member of the Documentary Association of Europe - DAE, the Head of Industry of Telemach OFF Pro in Sarajevo, and the Head of the Selection Committee of the Student Program of Manaki Brothers International Cinematographers Film Festival. He was a tutor of Teen Camp - Interdoc 2024 in Serbia. As an actor, he played one of the leading roles in the feature films "When the Day Had No Name" by Teona Strugar Mitevska (Berlinale 2017), "Sisterhood" by Dina Duma (Karlovy Vary 2021 - Special Jury Award Winner; Netflix), and "Bele Rade" by Gvozden Ilic (PÖFF - Black Nights Tallin). As a photographer, Hanis exhibited his photographic work at the Museum of Contemporary Art - Skopje in 2017. Besides, he has participated in 26 collective exhibitions. Bagashov has been part of the reading committee of European Short Pitch for three years in a row. His short film project in development "Grasshoppers" (France / North Macedonia) won the First Prize at European Short Pitch Co-production Forum 2020 in Brest, France, and "Favorite Project Award" at Balkan Film Market 2021 in collaboration with Torino Short Film Market. His first feature-length fiction film project in development "Aisha" took part in the European program LIM - Less is More led by "Le Groupe Ouest", and continued its path into Berlinale's Script Station 2022, and Goethe Institut's program First Films First. Previously, the project won the Best Pitch Award at PriFORUM - Prishtina International Film Festival 2019. His feature-length creative documentary project in production "I DON'T WANT TO" won the two top prizes, Renovabis Research Grant and the Current Time TV (USA) Award at East-West Talent Lab of goEast Film Festival 2022 in Wiesbaden, as well as the DAE - Documentary Association of Europe Award at Beldocs in Progress / Beldocs Intl Documentary Film Festival 2022, Dok.Munich Award at MakeDox Co-Pro Forum 2023, and the Al Jazeera Documentary Channel Award at AJB DOC 2023. The project also took part in Meeting Point Vilnius 2022, and Makedox 2022 development workshop. "I DON'T WANT TO" is supported by the North Macedonia Film Agency. His short film "With the Wind" (previously known as "Strike") was part of ShorTS Development & Pitching Training (ShorTS Film Festival) 2022, got supported by the North Macedonia Film Agency and finished its production in May 2024. Bagashov is the founder of the production company Hithra Films. He has been working as a producer and director for the Macedonian news media Vidi Vaka, as well as a director for the marketing agency Futura 2/2, and currently working as a director for the production company OXO in North Macedonia. Hanis was a tutor of a six-month program for documentary film-making, organized by the International Queer & Migrant Film Festival (Amsterdam, the Netherlands), and Youth Artivists for Change - Skopje Film Festival, held in Skopje, North Macedonia in 2019, and a tutor of Teen Doc Camp of Inderdoc 2024 in Serbia. He was a member of the juries at the following film festivals: - SEEFF à Berlin - South East European Film Festival 2019, Berlin, Germany. - International Uşak Winged Seahorse Short Film Festival 2019, Turkey. / as well as selector and moderator in 2020. - Drim Short Film Festival, North Macedonia 2019. - additionally, an exhibition of his photographs opened the festival. - ARRUF Istanbul, Turkey - Youth Film Fesitval Skopje 2024 He has been part of the advisor board of Tetova International Film Festival ODA 2024, and a tutor of Teen Workshop at Giffoni Film Festival Macedonia 2024.
