Esa-Lu Lorenz (she/her) was born in Germany in 1992. She finished high school in 2012 and studied Digital Media and Philosophy at Leuphana University of Lüneburg and Hamburg Media School. Meanwhile she began working as an Assistant Director, counting several feature- and TV productions, both German and international, up until today. She graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 2019 with a thesis about hero theories and charismatic authorities. Since then she wrote, directed and produced two short films. CLOUD STUDY, starring Antonia Breidenbach, Livia Cocco and Rufus Beck, was released in 2024 and selected at European Filmfestival Göttingen, Int. Sound&Film Music Festival and Canberra Short Film Festival (amongst others). Her second short HOME was completed in 2025 and had its world premiere at Hof International Filmfestival. Esa is currently developing a feature film and a series and lives in Hamburg, Germany. Her focus: human interactions, injustice and mental health.
