After shooting in a room hotel, then in a highway service, I want in with this new short movie "Divine mall", to shoot a new non-where place: the shopping mall. Through this movie, I question our power to create happiness in our world. Filming in the reality of a shopping mall, I imagine a fiction with two characters who get bored in this "divine" mall, place of pleasures like a paradise. But Betty wander in this place, from the parkings to the sky terrace. She get desoriented in this modern architecture, seeing a strange woman dressed in white. Betty is looking for how to desire again. I want to question like the poet Dante in the divine comedy, the sense of our lives, this spiritual crisis that come in the middle of the life. What is happiness? why looking for it? Betty is not good for happiness and try to reach an other sens of life, through a poetic wandering...

After working in movie festival coordination (FID, Annecy Cinema Italien) and finishing her Master’s degree in cinema, Barbara Panero wrote and self- produced several short videos (Seule, Desit exit), before making Désir d’autoroute, selected for the 36th Tous Courts international short movie festival (France, 2018) and the Cannes film short corner (2018).
