Taking a page from her somewhat nomadic upbringing throughout Europe and Asia, director Aurélie van Oost recently moved from Montréal to Berlin to pursue filmmaking. She is inspired by observation of everyday details - small acts of kindness, micro facial expressions, habits we’ve forgotten why we adopted. Above all else, she sees filmmaking as a connective experience, making sense out of our shared humanity. Since graduating from her MA program in September 2025, she is currently developing an anthology short film rooted in the Berlin experience. Her second short film as a director, "I Might Regret This", is currently on its festival run, most recently featured in Lift-Off Festival Berlin and Grrl Haus. Her graduation project "Tree Rings" is in the final stages of post-production, ahead of a hopeful festival season.
