Aemilia Scott is a filmmaker who works in features, shorts and experimental film. Her work transcends genres, working in comedy, drama and horror, and loves the space in the middle: uncovering the humor living inside of tragedy, and the darkness beneath a laugh. Her most recent short film, HELP ME UNDERSTAND, premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival before being part of the Sundance Shorts Tour. Aemilia’s short films have won awards such as the BAFTA LA award at Aspen, and have won awards and screened at Clermont Ferrand, Kurzfilm Hamburg, Palm Springs International, Regard Quebec, Seattle International, Rhode Island International, and many others. In the TV space, Aemilia recently directed an episode of the STARZ critically acclaimed horror-comedy, SHINING VALE, starting Greg Kinnear, Courteney Cox, and Mira Sorvino, which premiered last fall. Aemilia has a number of feature films in active development. Her first feature script, THREE HOURS, was featured on the Blacklist before becoming a semi-finalist for the Academy Nicholl Screenwriter’s Fellowship, and the Blacklist/Cassian Elwes Screenwriting Fellowship. Her second feature script, BIRTHDAY SUIT, has STILL ALICE producer James Brown attached. It was an official selection at IFP Film Week and Tribeca Film Week, and winner of the Melissa Mathison Film Prize at Hamptons International Film Fest. Her third script, DONNA, was shortlisted for the Austin Screenwriter’s Prize and featured on the Blacklist’s 2023 Most Highly Rated Scripts.
