Through my work, I try to explore my own psychological fragility, which sometimes takes the form of desire, belonging, or nostalgia. I am drawn to characters who remain open to conflicting emotions, identities, and versions of reality. Through these inner tensions, I examine how personal experiences shape the way we relate not only to others, but also to ourselves.

Born in 1999 in Paphos, Cyprus, Iakovos Maimaris is a filmmaker passionate about creating multimedia experiences. He studied Music Composition at the Ionian University in Corfu, Greece, and Creative Production in Film at the Catalyst – Institute for Creative Arts and Technology in Berlin, Germany. His artistic path began in music, working with composers such as Joseph Papadatos, Dimitra Trypani, and Beat Furrer, and participating in workshops with Unsuk Chin and Stefano Gervasoni. From early on, his practice evolved toward transdisciplinary narrative experiences. He regards his composition studies not purely as musical training, but rather as a study of synthesis — a practice that extends across the arts and finds its natural continuation in cinema. This pursuit led him to further studies in creative film production in Berlin. Recent works such as Lapsána 2 (musical play, 2024) and Don’t You Forget (short film, 2025) reflect this synthesis, while his latest short film Shekerika — written, directed, and scored by himself — marks a turning point, as his creative focus increasingly shifts toward cinema as his primary medium of expression. Currently based in Paphos, he continues to explore cinema as a synthesis of elements from across the arts.
