A common thread in my work is the use of fictional elements to strengthen documentary storytelling. This approach allows me to explore complex themes such as grief, illness, and psychological violence, while still preserving hope and humor. Whether I make films for children or adults, I aim to tell stories that leave the audience with a sense of hope and the feeling that they are not alone.

Nora Nivedita (b. 1998) was adopted from India and grew up in Norway. She graduated from the Norwegian Film School in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in Creative Documentary Directing. Her graduation film, Fucking Adopted, was nominated at several film festivals, including the Student Academy Awards, and won the New Nordic Voice Award at Nordic Panorama, the Nympth Award 2021 at the Norwegian Documentary Film Festival, the Amandus Blikkfang Award for Best Documentary, and the Jury Prize at Dokuart Bjelovar. Nora has collaborated with producer Lillian Løvseth on several projects. Their short documentary Show Me Your Face When You Look at a Stranger won the award for Best Short Documentary at Nordic/Docs 2023. Nora has just launched her first theatrical documentary for children Small Dogs Bark Loud , which is currently showing in cinemas. Before its theatrical release, it was screened at festivals such as Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival, the Kristiansand International Children’s Film Festival, BIFF, Cinekid, and Tallinn Black Nights.
