Inspired by my neopaganist post-Soviet upbringing, I found that I seek to delve into the depths of human existence, exploring themes of morality, connection, and the complexities of relationships. Through my films, I aim to peel back the layers of human nature, shedding light on the often concealed and challenging beliefs and aspects of life.

Hanna-Mirtel Paas is an Estonian filmmaker based in Berlin. She studied journalism at the Baltic Film and Media School in Tallinn and recently graduated with a BA in Film from Catalyst Institute for Creative Arts and Technology. Her first short film, “Let the Light Rise Upon the Forest”, premiered at the San Sebastian International Film Festival and was selected for Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, Gijon International Film Festival, 2ANNAS Short Film Festival and others.
