Jump Street Films was established by Jamie Bialkower in 2004 as a boutique distribution company dedicated to releasing quality cinema in the Australian and New Zealand markets. Recent acquisitions include FREUD’S LAST SESSION, starring Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins.
In 2024, Bialkower launched the Jewish Australian Screen Fund (JASF) to support both the development and production of Jewish Australian scripted narratives across film, television and digital. The privately supported fund exclusively contributes to stories that advance the depiction of Jewish Australians on screen, by Jewish Australian creatives, with emphasis on authenticity and visibility.
JASF was initiated due to the lack of Jewish narratives being financed in Australia, the lack of support that Jewish artists are receiving at structural and institutional levels, and to counter antisemitism through representation of Jewish stories on screen.
JASF has since backed 10 projects and produced four short films documenting post-Oct. 7 life in Australia for the Jewish International Film Festival. In 2026, JASF will provide further opportunities for Jewish Australian crew at all levels of production, including the inaugural Jewish Australian Screen Fellowship, ensuring that professional development is a key pillar of the initiative.
