Israela Shaer Meoded is a filmmaker and lecturer who has directed more than 8 shorts and feature films. Her films were screened at numerous festivals and won citations and prizes worldwide. Her thesis project at the Tel Aviv University engages in the pioneer women directors of Israeli cinema and as part of her study she rediscovered and restored the first feature-length Israeli film directed by a woman, Alida Gera’s Before Tomorrow. She is currently writing her second thesis on “Mizrahi Women’s Political Cinema of the 1970s” in the Department of Culture Studies, Tel Aviv University. Shaer Meoded is a filmmaker and a lecturer at the Bezalel Academy of Arts, and at the Sam Spiegel School of Film and Television, Jerusalem.
